Fashion Revolution Week 2022 : Dress to Express Clothes Swap, Special Talk & Community Meetup @ASAI Hotel

After a full year, Fashion Revolution Week 2022 is back again with Clothes Swap Event @ ASAI Hotel: Dress to Express where you can express your individuality through fashion style without buying new, without costing the earth!

What is the Clothes Swap Event?
We are inviting everyone to CLEAN OUT your closet, bring in your old clothes, shoes and accessories, (that are in good condition) and exchange them with our community so you can bring home new items for your closet that suit your style better.

Why do we do Clothes Swap?
At Fashion Revolution, we believe that freedom of expression can be expressed through ‘fashion’. Clothes are one of the most powerful tools to celebrate our individualities, our beliefs, and what we can do for the Planet Earth and our Society! At the same time, we are also helping to reduce carbon footprints by preventing these clothes from going to waste, saving more money by not shopping for new clothes, and reducing the inequality of people in society (The use of production labour that undermines the human rights of our fast fashion industry) by symbolic expression.

How do we do Clothes Swap?
  • Declutter your closet by sorting and keeping the items you still love
  • Bring clothes that no longer “spark joy” but are still in good condition to us for credits evaluation at registration
  • Use your credits to select new clothes that represent yourself or your style and bring them home with you

We, Fashion Revolution, believe in fashion that values society, environment, and diversity. This time, we have special activities! There will also be joy-sparking conversations with fashion-conscious people who will share with you their tips and tricks that will encourage everyone to express their freedom through outfits and to build a better future for fashion together. We are also open to all clothing regardless of size and gender specifications.
Please invite your friends who love dressing up and let’s have fun together!

So, what do I need to do to participate?

1. Add Line OA
After purchasing the ticket, add line OA : @fashrev.th and greet us with the evidence of the ticket/transfer. If you had attended our previous events, let us know your names / Swap ID and the venue to check the leftover Swap Credit score.

*This time we try to track & save Swap Credit via LINE so please make sure you greet us after buying the ticket

2. Estimate Credits & Approve
Send the photos of maximum 7 items you'd bring to Swap event (apparel, accessories, jewellery or footwear) to our Line OA to estimate the Swap Credit roughly and screen the products in prior to the event. Wait for the admin team to approve.

3. Drop off & Credit Check In
It's simple. Please bring those 7 items you submitted in step 2 to swap. They should be clean and ready to go on the racks. We accept all shapes and sizes but make sure they are in good condition and nice enough to share with others. Our Swap Crew will wait for you at the drop-off point to final check the swap credits based on quality and actual use conditions by referring to the confirmation result in LINE OA. Then, you will be able to bring your clothes, accessories and shoes to hang on the provided racks for each zone where we group them as different themes.

4. Swap
When the event begins, you can discover clothes in different themes and choose new-to-you items equal to the value of your swap credits or you can ask for recommendations from our stylists and even join in on a conversation about communicating yourself through your outfits.

5. Shop
Bring the items you want to the check-out point and "pay" using your swap credits. If you run out of credits, extra tokens will be available to purchase (200 THB per credit) within the last hour of the event so you can continue shopping.

About Fashion Revolution Thailand and our event

We are a global movement striving for a fashion industry that is fairer, safer, and cleaner. We want fashion to become a force for good and values people, the environment, creativity and profit in equal measure. We are the global movement network of Community Interest Corporation, registered in the United Kingdom, and operate through a network of volunteers in more than 90 countries around the world.

In Thailand, we organise a series of pop-up events designed to transform conversations around social and environmental challenges of fast fashion into tangible action, supporting people with community, care, and empowerment in every way we could. Joining this Clothes Swap event is an easy way to raise funds for us to be able to carry out activities sustainably.

The Clothes Swap event is a part of Fashion Revolution Week 2022 which is held on the week that falls on April 24th every year and it is the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse that killed over 1,100 people in Bangladesh. To remember that no one should suffer a loss or have to give up their lives because of the fashion industry, our mission is to bring people and organisations together to change the way our clothes are sourced, produced and purchased to be more safe, transparent and fair for all involved. And all of us are involved to make this collaboration happen.

FAQs

1. How does a clothes swap work?

A clothes swap is a sustainable and fun alternative to fast fashion. Bring along any clothes, accessories and shoes that you no longer wear, and let the staff at the drop off point assess the value - you will get the swap credits which you can use to spend on your new loved items.

2. How many items can I bring?

You can bring 7 items at the maximum for the Fashion Revolution Thailand Clothes Swap @ ASAI Hotel: Dress to Express.

3. What kind of items should I bring or expect to get?

Clean and of good quality, smart, casual, party..whatever you like
In wearable condition, so that leftover clothing can be donated responsibly
Something you once valued or will be valued by someone else. Ask yourself - would you give this to a friend?
Items you are happy to swap and emotionally detached from
No underwear, children-wear, swimwear
Brand examples:  local IG brands / Designer brands / High Street ex. Zara, Uniqlo, Topshop, H&M, COS, Mango , etc.

4. How do you assess the items?

Items are assessed and categorized based on RRP (Recommended Retail Price) and condition. This will dictate how many credits you receive and can swap on the stalls.

*Any items in below-great condition will get 1 credit deduction

5. What happens to un-swapped clothes?

All the remaining clothes after the event will be donated to Pun-kan Society, a social enterprise that sells donated items and turns those proceeds into scholarships for youth in need and some clothes will be passed on to our Social Enterprise network to repair them such as Reviv.

6. Can I donate directly to the charity?

Yes! There will be a Pun-kan Society donation box available for the day that accepts sweaters, and winter clothes, including small miscellaneous accessories and stationeries as well.

7. Any last rules when swapping?

-Buy a ticket and check your credit via LINE OA: Fashion Revolution only

-Please do not move items across rails (Because each point has different zoning) and seek
your Swap Shop Assistant if you have a query.

-We take no responsibility for garments donated and swapped and accept no liability for any claim or loss resulting from any transaction taking place at the swapping event.

-We can refuse any items brought to the event that do not meet the criteria of the credit system.

-We appreciate your honesty. Please refrain from taking any garments you have not officially swapped.

Look forward to seeing you all there!
