ประวัติ

Seksan profile

ng seksan was trained as a civil engineer and a landscape architect in New Zealand, before returning to Asia to practise with Belt Collins International for 4 years in Singapore, servicing their hospitality projects in Asia. In 1994, Sek San returned to Kuala Lumpur to set up his own landscape consultancy – Seksan Design.

In the last 22 years of private practice, Seksan has attempted to weave symbiotically between the hard and imposing world of architecture and the soft evolving organic world of plants and landscape. Seksan’s projects are about respecting the environment and human labour.  He believes in making works that reflect an egalitarian lifestyle that is simple, uncluttered, affordable and not overtly finished.

In the last 8 years, Seksan has experimented with returning the profession to a craft based tradition instead of following the trend of companies growing into big global businesses. All his projects are now concentrated in Kuala Lumpur and he does not take on overseas  commissions. Seksan believes that working locally allows for a better understanding of the subtle idiosyncrasies of context, weather, arts n culture, light quality, cost, workmanship, and it also allows direct collaboration with repeat clients who know and trust his practice which in turn allows him to take bigger risks and  takes on more experimentation.
