The Federation of Hong Kong Design Association (FHKDA) organises annual expedition to cities around Asia such as Taiwan, Singapore and Seoul the last few years. The aim of the expedition is to build stronger connections with practising professionals in neighbouring cities and hopefully be able to foster knowledge exchange and future collaborations.
This year FHKDA in collaboration with Thailand Creaitve & Design Center (TCDC) present the theme "Cognitive Capitalism and the Building of a Creative Capital” – Cognitive Capitalism, meaning capitalism that concentrates on the manufacture of cultural production, information and news, meanings, languages, and feelings to people, is a thriving kind of economic development. Cognitive Capitalism also refers to the new kind of creative economy that differentiates the goods produced under such economic structure to those from industrial capitalism. Accordingly, economic growth can thrive better and is more sustainable under Cognitive Capitalism. In view of that, cities around the world have started to have better infrastructure to support the growth of Cognitive Capitalism. Design Centers and Design Hubs are places where cities nurture new tastes, good cultural knowledge, and develop new creative products.
