The first small steps that lead to big things.



First time in Bangkok. Join the IMBA Program of Thammasat University, who is partnering with UC Berkeley to bring together some of the top social ventures from around the world to compete for prizes, recognition, and seed investment funds at the Global Social Venture Competition Global FinalsOver 500 teams entered the GSVC and on April 1 and 2, the GSVC choose the best from among 18 global finals.


In conjunction with the GSVC, Think Big, Act Small symposium allows thought leaders who work in design, creativity, and social impact, to talk about their work and inspire new ideas.
From this overall event, there are a variety of ways to make an impact on society for the new generation of entrepreneurs, who seek to build successful business with a social mission.

HARRY WEST

CEO, FROG

Harry is the CEO of Frog. He believes that customer experience is very essential. His goal then focuses on how to create better human experience by delivering brand, product and service. His work involves combining research and real-world experience to foresee what people will want in the future, and to transform their business to make that future real.

 


Yuwa Hedrick-Wong

Chief Economist and Chair of the Academic Advisory Council, MasterCard Center for Inclusive Growth, Global Economic Advisor, MasterCard Worldwide

Yuwa is a Canadian business strategist and economist working for MasterCard Worldwide. He has served as advisor to over fifty leading multinational companies and brings a deep expertise in spotting economic trends and supporting any issues for every economics’ levels.

CEO, Liberty & Justice

Chid is CEO and co-founder of Liberty & Justice (L&J), Africa’s first Fair Trade Certified™ apparel manufacturer to provide economic opportunities for internally displaced women, vulnerable to unemployment and economic exclusion.

 


Steve Hardgrave

Founder, Varthana

Steve believes in unlocking people’s potential and this belief grew as he experienced the alternating joys and tragedies when working closely with at-risk youth in Los Angeles and with marginalized communities in Mexico.

 


Chatchai Aphibanpoonpon

Founder, Klongdinsor

Chatchai loves exploring and trying new things that create impact. He has worked in the areas of education, improving safety for women, and improving access for people with disabilities.  His projects include LadyTaxi and Klongdinsor.

Nati Sang likes to build and create and he wants to encourage others to do the same. His Markerspace provides the tools, knowledge, and opportunities necessary for anyone to be new innovative products.



Preekamol Chantaranijakorn

Founder, Ma:D Club for Better Society

Preekamol is building  a community of committed, social-minded people who really take actions to improve the society.  Her club, Ma:D, supports social entrepreneurs through friendship, sharing of ideas, inspiring one another, and, most importantly, collaboration to create positive social impacts.



Shariha Khalid

Founder, Scope Group Scope UnLtd and Impact Hub Malaysia

Shariha is a social designer and social investor with over 15 years’ experience developing new ways to address society’s most pressing challenges.  She creates platforms and programs that support entrepreneurs, change leaders and social innovators with the ideas, knowledge, networks, partnerships, tools and resources they need to grow and create impact. 



Edward Rubesh

Director: The Global Social Venture Competition, Southeast Asia

Ed is one of the original founders of the GSVC--SEA back in 2007, before social enterprise became fashionable.  He is awed by innovators in developing countries, who are able to work through or around major challenges, and hopes he can help them improve their chances of success by encouraging them to Think Big, and pushing them to Act Small.
