Asia-Pacific Conference on Green Innovation (APGI)

The Best Conference on Innovation for Sustainability in Asia and the Pacific!

Asia Pacific Conference on Green Innovation 2019: “Urban Nexus:Water-Energy- Food/Land Innovations for Sustainable City Development (SDGs)” is a combination of the 3 high-level forums (Policy, R&D, and Economics) to share and discuss on how to enable innovations for the sustainable growth.
We are bringing great minds around the world who are Policymakers, Academia, Entrepreneurs, and Investors to meet here in United Nations Convention Centre (UNCC), where is located at United Nations Economic and Social Commission of Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), Bangkok, Thailand.
Background

Implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is critical to every sector of our society and calls to accelerate the progress in all spheres. Most of the current achievements in science, technology and innovation are based on sound research and development, and this is currently driven by the private sector, driven by profit. Making intellectual properties open-sourced and publicly available would have catalyzed the success of SDGs. In the current circumstances this goes against the interests of the business and the private sector. The public and private sector divide in values and lack of awareness on rules and regulations are currently hindering the progress and sustainability of many projects in cities of the region.

In this regard, GII is organising a common platform for the public and private sector, academia to create a common understanding of  each other’s needs and to set up common goals and targets to ensure the sustainable management of water, energy and land in cities, and align them with SDGs.

The Asia Pacific Innovation Week 2019 (APIW) will be organised during 30 July - 3 August 2019. The APIW is aimed at bringing together policymakers, academics, entrepreneurs, investors and media (approximately 500 delegates) from around the world, particularly Asia and the Pacific region, to have an open discussion and share knowledge and ideas on how to enable innovations for implementing the United Nations’ Asia-Pacific Roadmap for Sustainable Development and the Low Carbon Green Growth Roadmap.

The flagship event of APIW 2019 is the Asia Pacific Conference on Green Innovation (APGI) 2019. It will be organised in the middle of the week, 31 July - 1 August 2019, and will be comprised of seventeen nine (9) sessions, including Water, Energy, Food/Land (as three (3) Nexus-core sessions), IT, City, Investment, Civil Society, Governance (as five (5) Nexus-framework sessions), and Wellness (as one (1) Capacity Building/Case Study session). The summary of each session will be highlighting messages and recommendations of the discussions at the cross-sectoral level through the conference proceeding.
