The Harvard Club of Thailand is pleased to announce that it will hold its previously postponed “Fostering the Future of Finance” Forum on Wednesday, 22 June 2022. 

After a two-year hiatus, the Forum will offer alumni and friends an opportunity to come together once more. Join us for an evening of dinner and a panel discussion with three Harvard alumni who are widely recognised as thought leaders on the future of finance in Thailand:

Dr. Veerathai Santiprabhob, former Governor of the Bank of Thailand
Ms. Tipsuda Thavaramara, former Deputy Secretary-General of SEC
Dr. Santitarn Sathirathai, Group Chief Economist, Sea Limited

The Panel: 

Dr. Veerathai Santiprabhob - 23rd Governor of the Bank of Thailand, a post he has held since October 2015. He began his career in 1994 as an economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC before serving as a co-director of the Policy Research Institute of the Thai Ministry of Finance during the 1997 Asian financial crisis. In 2014, he was appointed to the Bank of Thailand’s Board and Monetary Policy Committee. Dr. Veerathai’s private sector experience includes serving as senior executive of Siam Commercial Bank and The Stock Exchange of Thailand. He has also held various positions on boards of leading corporations, including Thanachart Capital, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, Thai Airways International, and Central Pattana. Dr. Veerathai holds a Ph.D. and A.M. in Economics from Harvard University, and a BA in Economics from Thammasat University.

Ms. Tipsuda Thavaramara - Chairwoman of Thai FinTech Association, a non-profit organization with a mission to improve Thai people’s access to financial services at lower cost, nurture Thai startups, and promote competition in the financial service industry. She was SEC Deputy Secretary-General in charge of Policy, Markets and Intermediaries, and Investment Management from 2014 to May 2019. Her accomplishments include laying the foundation for digitalization of capital market and promoting FinTech development in Thailand, liberalizing securities businesses and creating competition in the exchange business, drafting the Derivatives Law and launching Thailand Futures Exchange, and formulating the implementation plan for ASEAN capital market integration. She also served on the Board of the Government Pension Fund from 2007-2011. Tipsuda holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in Mathematics from Harvard University.

Dr. Santitarn Sathirathai - Group Chief Economist and Managing Director of Sea, leading global consumer internet companies that operates Garena, Shopee and SeaMoney. He is also an independent director of Ngern Tidlor, a leading consumer lending financial institution in Thailand. Santitarn is the author of the Great Remake, the best selling and award winning book published by Matichon. Santitarn has worked at Credit Suisse, the Ministry of Finance, and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and an MPA in International Development from Harvard University.
